About

Return To White Chairs Vol 2 is the second installment in reunion gigs that reunite a punk and counterculture music loving crowd that met and drank at the infamous Elizabeth St bar in Brisbane City between 1977 and 1987.

Polarised by politics and conservatism at this time, Brisbane gave birth to some of the world’s most influential punk, post-punk, and counterculture bands. Return to White Chairs Vol 2 celebrates this time, the music, and the many people who lived, loved, and played in the scene.

Return to White Chairs Vol 2 is proud to feature one of the era’s earliest punk legends RAZAR, reforming again after the notorious 1989 show at a Brisbane speakeasy.  Second to RAZAR on the throne are Ipswich darlings The Toy Watches, all 40 plus years honed at their craft and still just as energising as they were then.

A massive support lineup includes other recognised names from back in the day, including The Horny Toads, Scrap Metal, Public Execution, The 5 Hanks, Vacant Rooms, The Cultured Few, and The Chrysalids, playing genres across punk, new wave, rockabilly, power indie pop, and rock. More recent combinations of players from the era are found in Dr Bombay, The Dangerous Folk, and The Bollocks, who represent indie rock, punk, and Celtic punk rock.  This is a huge day and night of talent, nostalgia, and fun!

Also featuring a VISUAL FEAST of 1000’s of photos and posters from this era, this is a not to be missed and once in a lifetime reunion with this lineup. We thank the Triffid, Axesounds Bookings, Punkfest, Shadowplay Photography, Austin-Zande Imagery, and our many other supporters for contributing so generously to this fundraiser, and all those unsung (and singing!) heroes and punters who, through this event, will support the ultra poor of the projects of Growing Nepal Foundation.
